NWOERC: Leamington, Ontario Hydroponic Greenhouse Tour
Neil Reid (UAC Director) and Paula Ross (UAC Research Associate) joined the members of the Great Lakes Hydroponic Association on a tour of hydroponic greenhouses in Leamington, Ontario on Wednesday, August 16, 2006. The purpose of the tour was to learn more about the Ontario greenhouse industry.
Leamington and its surrounding region is North America's leading greenhouse region. It holds 1600 acres of greenhouse area, 1300 acres of which farm vegetables and 300 acres produce flowers. Additionally, the Niagara, Ontario area holds 1600 acres of greenhouse area, with 1300 acres producing flowers and 300 acres farming vegetables.
