This was the year that Toledo’s Urban Affairs Center tried to help the Toledo Farmers Market and the Erie Street Market with expertise from David O’Neil, market consultant and former manager of the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, who spoke at a workshop on May 31.
Mid-summer, the Toledo Farmers Market opened a market at Westgate-Elder Beerman, which was very successful, according to Paula Ross of the Urban Affairs Center.
The Erie Street Market remained closed until mid-November, when it reopened with antiques and one food vendor, according to Don Monroe, interim manager.
