Urban Cyber-Democracy
Abdul Alkalimat - A program to study and address Digital Divide Issues and to assist minority-controlled organizations with information technologies.

CATNeT
Providing leadership, fundraising, organizational and technical assistance, and computers to a network of two dozen community technology centers that assist low-income individuals seeking access to and knowledge of how to operate computers and the Internet.

Evaluation of Ohio Works First in Lucas County
Terry Cluse-Tolar and Milo Jennings - Studying the effectiveness of attempts to move people from welfare to work.

Cost-Effectiveness of selected JFS programs in Lucas County
Lynn Bachelor - Analyzes job development, placement, and retention program, including the Transportation Commuter Link.

Dynamics of Contemporary Hispanic Leadership in Toledo
Laura Duffy - Study of networks among and concerns influencing local Hispanic Community leaders.

Sustainability of Utility Poles in an Urban Environment
Martin Abraham - A socio-environmental assessment of toxic contamination by wooden utility poles, especially in older neighborhoods.

NIP Charrette
Assist the Neighborhoods in Partnership and their community partners to develop a community-generated plan for the Detroit and Central Avenue area.

Walk Westgate
Guide and support a neighborhood coalition working to re-envision, re-design and re-develop this community so as to enhance quality of life.

Discover Downtown Toledo
Train guides and offer public tours of downtown buildings and neighborhoods weekly during the summer.

Conduct Candidate Debates
Sponsor and host forum for candidates for Mayor, City Council, and School Board during the fall.

Assist the Mayor
Help to lead the Mayor's transition team and provide technical and organizational support for the transition activities.

Participate in the PIC-led federal grant to retrain displaced workers.

Toledo Tax Revenues Forecast 2002
Paul Kozlowski - Create tax revenue forecasts for Toledo City Council to permit and promote more fiscally sound City budgeting.

Deborah Dwyer and Rick Boden - Analyze changing workforce composition and emerging occupational niches.

Employment in Northwest Ohio's Information Technology Sector
James LeSage - The changing composition of the information technology workforce in 19 NW Ohio counties will be examined.

Survey of Internet Usage in Business Practices among NW Ohio Corporations
Paul Fritz - Study how firms outside of the information sector use computer and the internet in their businesses.

Improving ES-202 Data
James LeSage - UT will clean and modify this state workforce data for use by scholars and policy-makers throughout Ohio.

Structural Change in the Local Financial Industry
Paul Kozlowski - Examine whether concentration of bank ownership has affected the availability of capital for local firms, and elsewhere in Ohio.

Sunday Griffin - Ascertain the extent of variance in educational content among Ohio colleges and whether it may be affecting workforce preparation.

Smart Growth Assistance
Assist Myron Orfield's study of political and economic dynamics of sprawl in Northwest Ohio, and maintain the complex coalition working on sprawl issues.

Smart Growth Survey Analysis
Barbara Coventry - Fully analyze the results of the survey of local attitudes toward smart growth so as to identify underlying patterns in the data.

Urban Issues Committee
Organize inner city groups to assure core city concerns are included in "smart growth" discussions and planning.

Community Data Book
Create an on-line databook describing the economy, schools, real estate, and major institutions of each community in a 5 county area.

Land Cover and Wetland Identification in the Maumee Watershed
Patrick Lawrence and Kevin Czajakowski - Using satellite technology to examine the status and to recommend more effective protection of local wetlands.

Regional Implications of Public Service Delivery Systems
Hugh Hinton - Analyze the equity of public service delivery systems in incorporated and unincorporated political divisions in Lucas County.
